That’s a cohort of Megatron in the background – galit na sha sa mga pinoy, dahil every 6 months, inaayos yung edsa because of some drainage system, or some cable company wants to install something – every 6 paking months.

call to action by bryan eisenberg

I was talking to my boss today when the topic of books came up, and like every girl who likes to shop (oh sorry, this is about books, not SHOOOES!), I asked him what books he’d recommend. 2 authors: Seth Godin, and Bryan Eisenberg.

I read about Bryan Eisenberg while browsing this certain site and almost died last night because his book cost $150 – which was apparently a mistake on the part of Amazon because tonight, it went down to $15. hahaha. Bryan Eisenberg.. CHECK!

from the mouth of my boss, “pede mong sampalin boss mo kapag natapos mo basahin yang librong yan..” nyahahha. sha kaya yon.

    Next author? Seth Godin.

all marketers are liars by seth godin

So Seth Godin has a bunch of books available at Amazon under marketing. This includes “The Dip” as well as “Purple Cow: Transform your business by being Remarkable,” and “Small Is the New Big: and 183 Other Riffs, Rants, and Remarkable Business Ideas”. People think he’s a genius and his books seem interesting. The first line of his book, “All marketers are liars…” start off with…

“I have no intention of telling you the truth”

    I suppose you’re convinced.

All books are available at Amazon but since I had no access to the site, I decided to check Powerbooks – they had a Seth Godin book but not the one here.

persuasive online copywriting by bryan eisenberg

After wiping drool off the side of my mouth, (the prices were pretty cheap, but had no way of sending them down here, and its scary – the Philippines being a high risk country), he showed me another site that sells summaries of books. Pretty neat idea for busy people – though I haven’t tried buying one yet.

I admit, I still have a load of books on my bedroom floor that I haven’t touched in months because I couldn’t make time to read. But I’m really trying to change all that by reading this book my boss lent me, and you gotta be proud, I’m down to chapter 7!

Don’t you ever get that overwhelming feeling when you hold a new book? (hey, a book you really want okay!) A shiver of excitement runs down my back, and my eyes shine just a tad brighter, and icantcontainmyselfijusthavetoreaditreaditreadit! Yes. I’m weird like that. Gaad. I miss reading.

  • stand under my umbrella.. (ella ella eh eh eh)

I’m sick… well, you already knew that.

seriously, I had fever this afternoon that recurred again this evening. I’ve been having stomach pains since morning and no, it’s not an imodium thing, it’s more a simeco thing. I got scared this morning because I thought I was having ulcer attacks – which I can’t blame myself from having since I’ve been known to skip meals every now and then – afterwards drown myself silly with soda/iced tea, therefore -nangangasim na sikmura. haaay.

No fx diaries today I’m afraid. ALTHOUGH…

On the way home, I was waiting for my turn at the tricycle terminal under the drizzle(under tricycle diary… yes.. public transport brings so much color into my life…hehe). So, ever the girlscout, I took out my umbrella (…ella.. ella .. ehhh ehh..eh… hahahha!) and looked behind me to see a guy who had a notebook on his head, and benevolently asked him if he wanted to share an umbrella… ella..ellla… stopitstopit! and he refused stating he’d ask me again if it rained any harder (it was after all, just a drizzle). Gaad. this scene is soOo straight-from-a-chick-flick. If I had no ninja turtle, I’d swoon. hahaha!

so what’s the point you ask.

Well, it was funny in a heartwarming way because while queued up, from the time I asked him to share an umbrella (wow i wrote that without the ella ella… ohgod there it is again…) till it was our turn, he was HAPPILY whistling(and he was looking pretty bad before I asked him).

Twas so fun to be nice to a stranger for a change :)

Maybe he had a pretty bad day(even worse than mine) and nobody was treating him right and that single act of kindness was all he needed to make his day. ehe. ang fun. I should be nicer to people more often, or commit to doing random acts of kindness.

It felt good – and that was all I needed to stave off the negative health vibes I’ve been having the whole day :)

    Friday im in-love entry #2

“Nikki – soul sister, full of a kind, fool of a kind”

Nikki and I have been friends for a long time now – 10 years next year (omg! pa party na rin tayo! heheh!). We were blockmates in DLSU, and along with Toni Aure, we had a mutual love for birkenstock, baggy pants, even baggier shirts, backpacks and brandy’s have you ever, monica’s first night, and parokya ni edgar.

If not inside the classroom (last row, left area), we were busy polluting teh world at the now famous “agno” , eating at mcdo, roaming rob place, or ditching our philosophy class.

Fast forward to 2007. We’re no longer boyish, and have long since opted to grow our hair long, have a proper mani & pedi, and wear blouses that’ll make Maria Clara blush. We’re still brats at times, and we still stalk our crushes (the wonders of friendster). oh! oh! she has a boyfriend, Han :)

Nikki saw me at my worst(yeah…men..) and I expect her to be there during the next best years of my life – with drei.

(sus akala mo naman ikakasal na! nyahahahha. 2 fridays down, 12 to go. YIPEE!)

Nanette Lepore ‘I Want You Back’ JacketSOooo fasyon! Although the Philippines is a tropical country, I still can’t get enough of jackets. I have a closet full of them – and I don’t even get to wear them(when it’s cold, it’s usually raining – and rain water is baaaaad on certain kinds of cloth) .

I was browsing Nordstrom online(sorry sosyal na ako hahah), and this pretty preppy thing costs $395. No, I’m not crazy to buy it, and perhaps in some parallel universe, I still won’t buy it… it’s just too expensive for a jacket – I’m sure there’s a rip-off somewhere else… (ehem…SM)

I just like.. looking at it(just like I do my shoes – once a month, neatly lined up on my bedroom floor.. they’re so… peaceful and clean hehe)

Full description(from the site… need to cite source!)

Nanette Lepore ‘I Want You Back’ Jacket (hanep!)
Button-front jacket features a large notched collar and feminine seam detail in front.Front pockets with decorative flap and button detail. Back belt with two-button closure. Approx. length: 23″. Fully lined. Cotton; dry clean.  By Nanette Lepore; made in the USA of imported fabric. Savvy.
    Steve Madden ‘Lezlie’ Pump

I sorta have an unfinished business with zebra prints. The other month I was looking for zebra-prints shoes, zebra-prints bags, and anything zebra. Unfortunately, most I saw were leopard prints, weird cow prints, and a lot of patent leather. bleh.

Still unsatisfied with my Internet window shopping, I went to the shoe department of Nordstrom and saw these fab fab zebra-prints peep shoe by Steve Madden(they look sexy with jeans and a great pick-me-upper for my office clothes).  The heels are a towering 4.5 inches(including the hidden platform in front). As with all Steve Madden products, I cannot afford it. It’s $99.95 – that’s around Php4.5k here! boo-hoo.

I’m begging the merchandising department of SM. Please. Create. Sell. To me. Thank you.
