    Why!?!?

If you know the answer, let me know.

Is it because of the holidays?

I like putting on make up – because I’m maarte like that, and I like looking gorgeous everytime I go out of the house (which rarely happens hahah). 5 years ago, getting ready(bathing, dressing up) takes 15 minutes flat – today, taking a bath takes more than 15 minutes, and dressing up takes a whole lot longer – signs that I am truly a girl…or something.

    New Haircut

My new haircut dictates I do something about my… face and my clothing. I’ve been weeding out the stuff that 1. doesn’t fit me, 2. doesn’t go with my “vibe” these days and I’ve also been putting on makeup more frequently. Living in a tropical country, my make up doesn’t last as long as I want to – or maybe my make up just isn’t for that.

    Good thing there’s Sephora.

Ever Belena, Maybelline, even Fasio aren’t tough enough for the tears, sweat, friction my face experiences everyday. I’m hesitant to try out the really expensive ones (Mac, Shu Eumura etc) because none of my friends have tried it out and my experience before wasn’t good -  I bought Lancome years before and it still didn’t last long. After a night out, I still looked like a member of the band KISS.

Oh but this is wishful thinking! Oh the tragedy that Sephora has yet to be in the country. But. a. girl. can. wish.

    Eyeliner

    Bourjois Liner Clubbing

    Cost: $16

An “Ultra Resistant Liquid Eyeliner”, tested and proven by clubbers themselves! Lasts 8 hours and prevents shocked faces of your friends after a night of clubbing!(or in the event of a hot night with your beau, he won’t be running off when he sees your face in the morning).

MascaraBoyfriend broke up with you? Dad gave you a rundown on the 10 commandments for the nth time? Somebody stole that last piece of Krispy Kreme?

You can hold your head up high with BareEscentuals Weather Everything Waterproof Mascara. Lengthens, Strengthens eyelashes and protects you from the dreaded KISS look.

    illuminating tweezer

    Illuminating Tweezers

So this ain’t makeup, but it’s part of anyone’s beautification process (unless you prefer the bushy eyebrows, to which I admire your… boyfriend). These tweezers are handy not only with your eyebrows or facial hair, I imagine the little built in bright light lets you look for your lost earrings in a dark club, or shine some light on the ground while making your way in movie house. The cost? $22 (I’m sOo feeling rich with the current dollar-peso conversion rate hahahah)

    Laura Mercier

I was acquainted with Laura Mercier’s line of Make up from my former boss Ms. Margee. My former boss had the most fab make up line (she was, after all, our part time beauty consultant over at the studio), and she knew how to make the models beautiful (for the sake of honesty, there was one where the model looked really.. ugh.. because she INSISTED on makeup that clashed with her coloring). This Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer costs $45 and has SPF20 to protect your skin.

    some kinda gorgeous

Does it not look amazing? or cute? or gorgeous?

Benefit’s Some Kind-a Gorgeous Foundation is just the help I need when I have a breakout that needs covering. Like REALLY needs covering. This cream foundation that turns to powder once it touches your skin costs $26.

I really wish they’d start selling Sephora stuff in Manila. I know that the bunch from Manila are a gorgeous lot, but we do need a tweak once in a while. Make up can definitely help!

  • Butter Diner at Araneta Center

On our way to Cubao X, we passed by Butter Diner.

    http://www.titakosivilma.com

For a long time(and my friends can attest to this) I’ve wanted to go to a diner – something similar to what you saw on those American movies. I’ve even practiced my line: “the regular please”, and presto! good, homey food (ok so that wasn’t much of a line.. harhar)

What did I like about Butter Diner?

    butter diner

    Pancakes of course! and…

Aside from the crazy wigs they had on, tempting me to bring out my specially designed comb for curly hair, I loved their flavored butter. I’m not sure how many there were, but I’m sure there were plenty. I tried the blueberry pancakes, the Roast Beef, and Drei tried the smoked ribs.

Blueberry pancakes - really good, as well as the blueberry flavored butter

Roast Beef - It could use a bit more warming up

Smoked Ribs - this one was disappointing. Flavor was too smoky

Cost: Not too cheap, not too expensive either. Pancakes at aroundP90, while the main course costs around P200-250.

If you’re in the area (I come from the south, so this area is a once a year thing), try out Butter Diner. They’re located at the Shopwise Arcade in Araneta Center. They also have milkshakes, banana splits and other desserts. Not everything is that yummy (smoked ribs heh) but then again, you don’t come to Butter Diner to eat meat – you visit the place to sample the flavored butter.

Now, did I get to practice my line?

Er no not really. On my next visit perhaps, gotta make that next visit pretty unforgettable. Maybe a wig will help…
