• My August Challenge – Less Rice

I am a voracious RICE EATER. It seems to me, or maybe it’s just in my brain, that I cannot live without rice. I remember eating 3 cups of rice in college for lunch with 4 pieces of siomai – I was eating like a manual laborer! And since I’m keen on losing my gut, and my love handles, I decided to lessen my intake of rice this month of August.

So far, I’ve managed to keep my consumption to a cup of rice a day. I currently weigh 118 lbs.

The first few days were terrible – my mom, unknowingly, would serve spicy menudo, tuyo, shrimp, adobo – meals you won’t enjoy without rice. Ugh. I was trying very hard to resist the urge. After a week, I was used to it. Seriously. I am now eating less rice – actually my meals are now smaller than what I had before. I drink more water too, and more fruit. I guess it’s my way of compensating for the rice loss.

I really want to be healthy, so for September, my goal is to eat less meat – pork and beef. Chicken doesn’t count because as far as I can remember I’ve never been a fan of our fine feathered friends. I honestly don’t want to eat pork anymore coz we’re taking care of pigs in my kuya’s little farm (what I take care of, I do not eat).

I’ll be sticking to seafood/veggies for a while. Let’s see what happens to me after a month of not eating meat :)

    Keep you posted!
